Pete was born August 25, 1926 in Alpharetta, GA to the late W.C. and Easter Austin, and was the oldest of two children.
Pete was married to Margaret Austin for 66 years and they had three daughters. Pete was a man of great honor and integrity and his life was marked by service. He was proud to have served as a Merchant Marine during World War II. He later provided a great service to his community as he worked for years as Warden for Fulton County Prison Systems. He was an active member of Midway United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, W. C. Austin, Sr and Easter Hollifield Austin and brother Al Austin.
Pete leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Margaret Austin and their children Janice Austin, Sheila Gilstrap married to John Gilstrap and Phyllis Austin. As well as grandchildren Sonia Range married to Chad Range and Shawn Gilstrap and great-grandchildren Abigail (Abi) Range, Isabella (Izzy) Range and John Lawrence Range.
It was Pete’s wish that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Midway United Methodist Church Building Fund, Alpharetta, GA.
