William Robert Benson

Bill graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in business and entered the Army, serving in Korea as a first lieutenant with the 439th Engineer Construction Battalion.

After leaving the army, Bill worked for International Minerals and Chemical Corporation for 31 years in the financial department before retiring in Roswell. He was a member of the Roswell United Methodist Church and served as an usher and money counter for many years. Bill was in the Seekers Sunday School class, where he was member since 1976.

He was predeceased by his brother, Arthur J Benson and is survived by his daughter Barbara Ann Benson Blakely, son-in-law David Blakely, grandchildren Elizabeth (Greenville, SC), Emily, and William. He is also survived by his nephew Dr. Jerry Benson, Harrisonburg, Va.

Bill was a faithful member of the Christian community, he loved his Georgia Bulldogs, he was loved and respected by many, and had a great love for his daughter and her family.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 2nd in the chapel at the Roswell United Methodist Church, 814 Mimosa Blvd, Roswell, GA 30075. A reception will follow.
