

William Warren Brewer, Sr. passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 30, 2016. He was born on September 18, 1924 to Lester R. and Grace Brewer. Bill graduated from Boys High and attended Mercer and Emory University until his enlistment in the Navy during WWII. He served aboard the battleship USS Mississippi until honorably discharged in 1946. He was in Tokyo Bay during the signing of the peace treaty to end the war. Bill returned to Georgia to resume his education at Southern College of Pharmacy, graduated and joined his father to take over his family businesses. He owned Brewer’s Pharmacy on Lee St. and Stewart Ave., then Brookhaven Pharmacy in 1965. He was President of Drugs Mutual Inc. and retired in 1992. While his career was extraordinary, his retirement meant he could spend his time with his one true love Hattie Lou, until her death in 2009. Those who knew him knew his life was happily, accomplished and full of love. He will be missed but he is reunited with the love of his life. He is survived by four children: Bill Brewer, Jr., Katrina Brewer, Julie Brewer Dreger and her husband Rick, Jenny Brewer Moore and her husband Jim; six grandchildren: Chris Moore, Shelley Sean Legg, Blake Moore, Ricky Dreger, Mary Dreger, Jake Dreger; and three great-grandchildren: Aubree Legg, Zoey Legg, and Mannix Moore. He is also survived by Nancy Wienmiester and Charlotte Reeves. There will be a graveside service at Westview Cemetery on Thursday May 5, 2016 at 11:00am. Dr. Malone Dodson presiding. The family will receive visitors following the service at the home of Julie and Rick Dreger from 6:30 until 8:30 pm in honor of their daddy. In lieu of flowers please make donations in honor of Bill and Hattie Lou Brewer to the Salvation Army.
