

Willowreene Stokes-Preuss (“Cookie”) of Dunwoody, Georgia died October 16, 2016. Born in Eastman, Georgia she attended high school in Cochran, Ga and later Middle Georgia College. She was employed by the DeKalb County School System in the mid 60’s as an Administrative Assistant beginning her career at Ashford Park Elementary and continued later in the same capacity at Kingsley Elementary School in Dunwoody.
Cookie was widowed twice. Her beloved first husband Guy Jackson Stokes Sr. (Jack) died in October 1979. They were married on September 14th, 1946 and were blessed with 3 children. She married Harold Preuss in 1991 and they were married until his death in 2000.
One of 8 children, she is survived by her 3 children; Guy J Stokes Jr, Ty J Stokes, and Chrisanne Arnsdorff, sisters, Shirley Sheppard and Betty June Cook, and beloved brother Bobby Cook. She has 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Cookie was a devoted member of Roswell United Methodist Church and a longtime volunteer. She was also a member of the senior choir. Spending her days with family, her church and choir were her favorite things in life!
Cookie never met anyone she didn’t give a hug! She firmly believed that loving one another was the only thing in the world that really mattered and considered all her friends whether by blood or by choice a member of her family. These friends spread across several continents and are of all ethnic, gender, and religious backgrounds and sexual orientations. She knew absolutely that all people deserved love and that God made no mistakes. Her faith was absolute.
A Memorial Service will be held for her at RUMC in the Chapel at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 22nd with Dr. Mike Long and Dr. Malone Dodson officiating. The family will receive friends in the Parlor, Bldg. B of the church one hour before the service. She will rest in state from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour. Interment will be at North Atlanta Memorial Garden.
