Zachary was born on August 1, 1995, in Atlanta, Georgia, the fourth child and first son of Wyatt Gray and Janice Schmittou. He graduated from White County High School in Cleveland, Georgia in 2014 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega in May 2018.
Zachary was known for his remarkable work ethic. During his senior year of high school and throughout college, he diligently worked nights and weekends at McDonald’s to cover his expenses. Despite long hours and a full academic schedule, he never complained and never gave up. Following his graduation, Zachary began his professional career with Cold River Land, LLC (recently acquired by CBRE, Inc.), where he served as a property tax analyst for seven years. He took great pride in his work and spoke often about the importance of making a meaningful contribution to the company and to being a good coworker to the other members of his team.
Exceptionally mechanically inclined, Zachary had a natural talent for understanding how things worked. He enjoyed tackling car repairs and home improvement projects, scouring the internet for how-to guides and instructional videos. He took great satisfaction in sharing photos of his completed projects and talking about what he learned along the way.
On November 11, 2023, Zachary married his college sweetheart, Jessica Gray (née Hagen). He valued his role as a husband above all else, and the eight years they shared together were profoundly meaningful to him. They became first time home-owners in August of 2022, and adopted their beloved dog, Gemma, shortly thereafter.
He will be remembered for his dedication and kindness, as well as his deep love for family and the people fortunate enough to have known him.
Zachary is survived by his wife, Jessica; his in-laws, David, Cathy, Elizabeth, and Anna Hagen; his siblings, Jessica Gray, Jennifer Bethenod, Mary Katherine Gray, Mackenzie Gray, Nicholas Gray, Garett Bethenod, and Joshua Standaert; and his niece and nephew, Kloud Carpenter and Gannon Standaert.
Preceding Zachary in death is his father, Wyatt Gray.
