Guillermo Alamillo was born on October 26, 1946 in Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico. Guillermo was the second oldest of seven children of Remigio Avila and Paulina Alamillo. During his youth, Guillermo had a passion for learning new things, being very close with the Catholic Church, enjoyed viewing a good game of “el revote,” and developed a love for the music genre “tamborazo.”
At the age of 21, Guillermo made a decision to move away from Valparaiso, Zacatecas and attend college in the city of Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. On February 11, 1969, Guillermo met the love of his life, his future wife and the future mother to his children, Blanca Estella Oviedo. On March 3, 1972, Guillermo and Blanca married, and soon thereafter, moved to Los Angeles, California where they would start their new life as a family.
After moving to Los Angeles and working various types of jobs, Guillermo joined a local union called Teamsters Union where he proudly worked for about 15 years. It was during this time that Guillermo also pursued a medical assistant degree, which he acquired in 1989. As was the case before and after moving to Los Angeles, Guillermo never lost sight of his love and passion for his strong Catholic faith and actively enjoyed attending church on Sundays, where he volunteered for nearly 15 years to open the church doors every Sunday morning in preparation for Sunday’s 8 a.m. mass. Guillermo loved a good conversation, family, friends, his wife’s food, the Dodgers, and “tamborazo.” Guillermo’s legacy is always think positive, keep a happy face no matter what, and to always say, “vamonos, vamonos!”
