

John Manuel Armendariz peacefully passed away on December 31, 2015 at home in San Juan Capistrano, CA. He was 90 years old and was surrounded by his family. John was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 28, 1925 to Juan and Rosario Armendariz. He was the third in line of six siblings. He proudly served in WWII in the US Marine Corp and bravely fought in the battle of IWO JIMA. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his combat heroism. John married Margaret Garcia in 1948 until her passing in 2013. This marriage of 65 years was a testimony of their love and devotion. After the war John pursued a career as a Civil Engineer and retired from The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power after 40 years of employment. John and his beloved wife Margaret traveled around the world and loved spending time with family and friends. John’s greatest loss was the passing of his only son Victor Armendariz in 1990. He is survived by; daughter Louise Valdez, son-in-law Richard Valdez, grandson Phillip Valdez, and brothers Frank and Alex Armendariz. A public memorial will be held on January 12, 2016 at the Queen of Heaven Mortuary in Rowland Heights, CA. John will be laid to rest with a Full Honor Detail recognizing his service to our country.
