

Alice V. Mattos, gained her angels wings on August 5, 2024. She was born August 25, 1924 in Dinuba, California to Joseph and Maria Moraes. Alice met the love of her life, Tony Mattos, while he was pheasant hunting on her family's ranch in Newcastle. They were married October 4, 1941 and were married 58 years before Tony's passing.
Alice was a Loving Mother to Patricia Costa and Idamarie Barsotti (Ernie). Loving Grandma to Gina Barsotti, Angela Simoes (Adrian), Allison Bateman (Evan), Douglas Flores (Kelsey), Christopher Flores (Jen), Bill Costa and Christine Trostle (Andrew). Great-grandmother to Jack, Landry, Aurelia, Henry, Caroline, Blake, Slade, Tayden, Mara and Noah. She was preceded in death by her Son-in-law Tony Costa, Great-grandson Alexandre Simoes, Great-granddaughter Amelia Bateman, & Sister Albertina Mattos (Mario). She is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Alice worked at Libby, McNeil and Libby Cannery in Sacramento for over 35 years. She was a member of the Sacramento Portuguese Holy Spirit Society, Luso American Fraternal Federation, LAFF Education Foundation, Irmandade Nossa Senhora De Fatima No. 1, St. Elizabeth's Our Lady of Fatima and Sodality, SES Portuguese Hall-Elk Grove, PFSA118 and Sacramento Portuguese Historical Society. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. She loved making family dinners and celebrating every holiday. Alice loved baking cookies, making jelly, and Portuguese treats. Alice's heart was a testament to all that is good in the world. She loved to GIVE. Even through some of the most challenging trials of her life, she always showed compassion, grace, forgiveness, and charity. She truly touched us all in such a special way and will be Forever in Our Hearts.
Alice's funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church 1333 58" Street, Sacramento, California at 10:30 a.m. with the Recitation of the Rosary followed by a Mass of Christian burial. Committal will immediately follow to St. Mary's Cemetery.

A prayer service for Alice will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1333 58th St, Sacramento, CA 95819, followed by a religious ceremony from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
