Annabelle Lee Smith, 88, of Sacramento CA passed away peacefully on March 20, 2021, surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Santa Monica, CA on October 27, 1932, and attended Inglewood High School, Southern CA Bible College, El Camino College and studied Spanish at UCLA.
Anne married her beloved husband Alfred (Al) Smith on November 21, 1959 and had four children over their 33-year marriage, until Al’s death in 1992. She later shared seven years of loving companionship with Tom Bazeley.
She worked as a paralegal in the Los Angeles area and later in Sacramento. Anne started her own successful business, Lee’s Collectibles (1974-89), a mail order company that sold figurines, ornaments, dolls and collector plates. She produced mail order catalogs and did all the shipping herself long before there was an Amazon.
Anne was a long-time parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Later in life, Anne volunteered as a docent at the Crocker Art Museum and California State University Sacramento. Anne had a passion for travelling abroad where she enjoyed immersing herself in the culture of the country she visited. Anne loved antiques, needlepoint, art, paperweights, Spanish, cooking, baking, and she generously donated funds to many worthy charities and causes.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband Al, sister Shirley Stevens, mother Goldie Warren (Erickson), and father Paul Martin Erickson. She is survived by her loving children Paul, Stephen (Beth), Michael, and Noreen (Michael); beloved grandchildren Colin, Clancy, Garrett, Alexandria, Reilly, Kaylin, and John; plus nieces and nephews.
Rosary Services will be held at 6 p.m. on April 22, 2021 at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home with doors open at 5:30. Due to COVID-19, a socially distanced funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on April 23, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by an outdoor reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Anne & Al Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund at Jesuit High School, 1200 Jacob Lane, Carmichael, CA 95608.
