Ms. Antoinette “Toni” Cheryl Cartoscelli, age 81, died on July 20, 2025 in Elk Grove, California. She was born February 19, 1944 in Sacramento County, daughter of the late Antonio Americo “Tony” and Lavinia Jean “Lovey” Cartoscelli.
Antoinette is survived by three children and their spouses, Christine Davis (Scott) of Elk Grove, Brian Westlake (Stacey) of Sacramento, and Debbie O’Donoghue (Sean) of Sacramento; six grandchildren, Kyle, Lauryn, Nicholas, Kelsey, Molly, and Brandon; one great-grandchild Siena; and her dog Ella. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Antoinette grew up in Sacramento and graduated from Sacramento High School in 1962. She became a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in 1974 and specialized in intravenous therapy and phlebotomy. Her thirty-five year career as an LVN included time at Methodist Hospital, Sacramento Blood Bank, and Sacramento Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she retired in 2009.
Throughout her retirement, Antoinette often volunteered at Sutter General and Mercy hospitals as well as the Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA). She enjoyed walking at McKinley Park, visiting with her many family and friends, gardening and caring for her beautiful yard, and taking road trips and vacations with her family.
Those who knew Antoinette will remember her love of animals, especially her many beloved dogs. She was generous and had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. In the words of one of her favorite Eagles songs, take it easy Toni!
The Celebration of Life to honor Antoinette’s life will be held on August 6, 2025, 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Dante Event Center, 2330 Fair Oaks Boulevard, Sacramento. All are welcome to attend.
