Audrey Jane Ah Tye
November 28, 1916 – December 21, 2020
It is with extreme sadness that the family of Audrey Ah Tye announces her passing from a subdermal hematoma on December 21, 2020 at the age of 104 years. Audrey was born in Canton, China on November 28, 1916 to Yee Yee and Sam Fong. She was the first born of five children.
In 1922, her family immigrated to the United States. Her father was a farmer, and during her early years, Audrey helped out wherever possible. She attended Lincoln Elementary/Junior High School and graduated from Sacramento High School. Audrey went on to attend Sacramento City College to study Sewing, Nutrition, and Interior Design. An excellent homemaker and a creative interior designer, Audrey drafted the house plans to build her forever home which she lived in until her passing.
Audrey was married to Raymond Ah Tye for 70 wonderful years until his passing in 2012. She leaves behind a legacy of being the family matriarch and is survived by her brothers, Edward Fong (Priscilla) and Roger Fong (Florence). She will be lovingly remembered by her children: daughter, Michelle Lew and son, Dale Ah Tye (Laura). Audrey will also be fondly remembered by her three grandchildren: Leslie Lew (Bryan Wagner), Tiffany Ah Tye and Brandon Ah Tye. Great-grandsons, Conner and Colin Wagner will miss her immensely.
Two of Audrey’s siblings preceded her in death - her brother, William Fong and her sister, Violet Chan.
There are many wonderful traits that can be attributed to Audrey. She was well known for her kindness and generosity to neighbors, fellow church members and family. She was an elegant woman who took pride in her family, cooking and immaculate home. Audrey’s sponge cake, for example, was one of her many beloved recipes enjoyed by family, friends and fellow members of the church. Outside of her amazing skills as a chef and a baker, one of Audrey’s main passions was gardening in her yard. When Audrey was unable to continue gardening, she nurtured her indoor plants and the many floral arrangements and orchids she received as gifts.
A private interment service will be held due to COVID-19 limitations. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Chinese United Methodist Church, 2470 28th Ave, Sacramento, CA 95822 in memory of Audrey Ah Tye.
A “Celebration of Life” Zoom Video Event and Conference Call for Audrey will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 4:30pm. If you are interested in participating on this call, contact Michelle Lew, Michelle.firstname.lastname@example.org by 1/27/21.

Audrey was such a warm and beautiful woman. I think of her more than just a friend or Michelle's mother. I enjoyed our visits talking about plants, her home and family. She had empicable taste in clothes and furnishings, everything was always in its place.
I know she was doing something right as her memory was better than my mind. I will miss our visits and making Chinese food for her. Heaven has gained another beautiful angel.

Mrs . Ah Tye stands as the most elegant and kindhearted person I’ve met. She always smiled and made me feel welcomed in her presence. I greatly cherish her stylishly written hand notes and feel honored and blessed to have met her.
