Judah Rosen was born in Oneonta, New York, in 1948 to Sam and Goldie Rosen. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Susie. He graduated from Boston University in 1970 and then moved to San Francisco to attend SF State Graduate School. He belongs to Beth Sholom Congregation in San Francisco, and has been a member of Narcotics Anonymous since 2001. He moved to the Sacramento area in 2010 and has been a member of Mosaic Law Congregation. Since COVID, he is also a member of B'nai Jeshurun in NYC. He discovered his true calling of volunteering with marginal communities while in SF, and his proudest achievement was receiving the first "Mensch of the Year Award" from Jewish Family and Children's Agency. For a dozen years he led group of Jews to visit Jewish Prisoners in Folsom Prison, and has been the coordinator for the entire Sacramento Jewish community in monthly volunteering at Loaves and Fishes, as well as an active volunteer with The Jewish Federation.
