Born and raised in Oakland, Bennie resided there and both worked and resided in Alameda for nearly all his life aside from a brief stint in the US Army. Following that enlistment, during which he served honorably and included deployment to and service in the Korean War, Bennie spent the remainder of his working career as a civil servant for the Navy Department, working as an aviation repair technician at the Naval Air Rework Facility at NAS Alameda, where he fixed all manner of avionics systems across the entire inventory of US Navy aircraft. Following his retirement, Bennie continued to reside in Alameda and pursued his passions for bowling, electric trains, jigsaw puzzles, and attending Giants baseball games with his bowling league friends.
Bennie was the third of five children of George and Constance Ng of Oakland, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, his older brothers Chuck and Richard, and his younger sisters, Betty Ng Yee, and Esther Ng Harris. Though twice engaged, Bennie never married, and had no children. He is survived by nephews Richard G. Ng, (Debbie), Billy Harris, Mark E. Harris, and nieces, Lisa M. Ng, and Melissa Yee as well as great nephews Richard B. “Brad” Ng (Brittany), and MAJ Andrew J. Ng (Alison), and great, great nephews and nieces, Alex, Maddie, Aurora, and Naomi.
Bennie was ever the dutiful son, loyal brother, and generous uncle who lived a quiet, simple life, and largely private life. He was most proud of being able to live completely independently until the very last months of his long life. We will miss our Uncle Ben.
