Carmen was born in Fresno, California. She was the youngest of five children. She met Chris Martinez when she was seventeen and they married a few years later. As a young couple, they loved raising their family in San Jose, California.
Mom preferred to work outside the home as a “presser” in the dry cleaning business. When she wasn’t working she volunteered at the elementary school across the street from home.
She lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family, and various hobbies. Mom relocated to Rancho Cordova (Sacramento area) in 2010. There she continued to find joy in her activities, such as; hosting family dinners, crocheting, sewing by hand, gardening, dancing, listening to music, and thriving with Kaiser walking and exercise classes.
Mom passed away peacefully after a six year struggle with Vascular Dementia. She will be greatly missed by many family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Chris Martinez. She is survived by her loving children; Chris Martinez, Arnold Martinez, Lupe Martinez, and Louisa & Mario Melo. As well as her Grandchildren; Chris and Sara Martinez (Great-Grandson Christopher James), and Mario J. Melo.
A memorial service will be held at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home in Sacramento, California on Saturday, July 11th at 1 p.m.
