CATHERINE "PATSY" RICE DOOLIN. It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine Rice Doolin announces her passing from natural causes, on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at the age of 91 years. Catherine lived in Rocklin, California and was born in Honolulu, Hawaii Territory on June 7th, 1927 to Robert and Leona Rice. She attended the Sacred Hearts Academy Catholic boarding school in Honolulu and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She later attended St. Mary's College in San Francisco and received a two year degree. Catherine met Ronald Doolin, soon married and moved to the Midwest to start a family. Ronald worked as a Court Reporter for the State of Missouri. Catherine raised the family in Brookfield, MO. She later worked as a legal secretary for attorney Robert Smith for many years. Catherine enjoyed, Bridge, Mahjong, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She loved solving puzzles of all types and was a grammar enthusiast. Catherine was a member of the Beta Sigma Pi non-academic sorority and the Widowed Persons Association of California (WPAC) and where she produced the WPAC newsletter for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; sister, Carroll Rice; and her parents. She is survived by her children Patricia, Robert and Timothy Doolin of Rocklin California; daughter-in-law Joy Doolin of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren Anne [Matt] Rivera of Olathe, KS, Kathleen [Sam] Rogers of Spring Hill, KS; and great grandchildren Chase DeLuca and Evelyn Rivera of Olathe Kansas. Services will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery chapel [6509 Fruitridge Rd, Sacramento, CA 95820] at 11 am on Tuesday, August 28th, 2018. Catherine will be laid to rest among other family members that have passed before her. At the family’s request, the funeral and burial will be a private event for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, we request that memorial donations may be made to Sutter Care at Home and Hospice of the Valley, or to a hospice of your choice. Hospice’s are amazing organizations and provide valuable information, insight, and liaison during difficult times
