

Chester C. Chan, age 91, died peacefully on January 18, 2015. His generous spirit and easy smile will be greatly missed. We were all blessed to have known him. He had a green thumb and loved tending to his many roses and house plants.
Chester was born in Isleton, California in 1923 to parents Walter and Carol. He grew up in Locke and graduated from Sacramento High School. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1946 with a degree in entomology. He lived in Santa Rosa for 15 years working as a medical technologist. On April 14, 1957, he married Annie Foon and they moved to Sacramento to start a family. He worked for the state of California as a medical technologist until 1989.
Chester is survived by the love of his life, wife, Annie; his brother, Donald (wife-Gigi); his daughter, Stephanie (husband-Steven); and his son, Kenneth (wife-Vanda). His grandchildren are John, Tony, Tiffany, Christopher, Zachary, Katherine and Chantelle. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the ideal example of a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Visitation is scheduled for this Thursday, January 29 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Nauman & Son, 4041 Freeport Blvd, Sacramento. Chester’s funeral is scheduled for Friday, January 30 at 11:00 am. His son Kenneth will officiate. Burial to follow at East Lawn, 4300 Folsom Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome at ACC Senior Services Center, 7334 Park City Drive, Sacramento, CA 95831 and American Heart Association.
