

Chris was born on November 21, 1940 in Topeka, Kansas and passed away peacefully on April 7, 2023 in Sacramento, California. Chris served in the United States Army where he earned his second degree black belt in karate. Chris worked for the United States Postal Service for 25 years and Haggin Oaks Golf Course for 20 years. Chris loved his family, enjoyed watching the Raiders, golf and listening to Elvis. Chris was preceded in death by his wife Fotine Fotos Jovalis, his parents Dan and Penelope Jovalis and his brothers, Tom and Robert Jovalis. He is survived by his two stepsons Dan (Katherine) Ballas and George (Sunday) Ballas; grandchildren Diana (Robert) Magee, Martha (Jason) Anderson, Steve Ballas, Shawn (Sonya) Ballas; great-grandchildren Katherine, Matthew, Alexander, Nicholas, and Shawn Jr. He is survived by his sister Fotine Kuchulis, sisters in law Virginia Jovalis, Antonia Fotos and Ruseta Fotos and brother in law Demetre (Christine) Fotos. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Services will take place at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 600 Alhambra Blvd., Sacramento. The Trisagion and funeral will both be held on Monday April 17, 2023 beginning at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, “The Build”.
