On June, 27th, 1921 in Highland Park, Michigan, the sun rose for the eldest child of Doris and David Taughinbaugh. Edith worked yard duty with her longtime friend and neighbor Dell Quinlan at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in College Greens and then spent 13 years with the Sacramento City Unified School District in food service for area schools. She lived her dream of travel as a U.S. military wife and lived in Japan, Germany, Georgia (USA), and Vacaville, CA after World War II. She was an active member of Atonement Lutheran Church and choir in Rosemont with her husband Roland for many years until she could no longer attend.
Edith is survived by her loving children Doris Rosenberger Cook of Sacramento, Linda Jones of North Highlands, and Sean Jones of Sacramento. Edith is also survived by her grandchildren Cher Lozano, Jason Jones, Morgan Jones, Trevor Jones and Umar Cook. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Edna, and her husband Roland John Rosenberger.
Mom always enjoyed a houseful of her family, no matter the occasion or holiday. It put that bright smile of hers on her face. She was a strong woman with grace and poise in equal measure. The sun set for Edith at her longtime home in College Greens on June 25th, 2015 in Sacramento, California. Heaven has asked this angel to come home.
There will be a memorial service, followed by a remembrance reception for family and friends on Friday, July 10th, 2015 at 11:30am at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger, 5401 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95819. A private family internment will follow the reception.
