He was born in Sacramento to DuWayne and Ethel Adams. His is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cherie Wellman Adams, daughters Jessica Robison (Brad), Holly Lattin (Chris) and four grandsons, Logan (14), Cruz (9), Tucker (7) and Maverick (6).
Forrest was born and raised in Sacramento and served his community by choosing a career with the Sacramento Fire Department. He also served in the United States Coast Guard active and reserve for 37 years and rose to the rank of Reserve Command Master Chief of the 11th Coast Guard District.
Forrest had a giving nature and regularly supported service and community organizations. One of his passions was to support the local food banks. Throughout the year he would purchase 50 pound bags of potatoes, rice and other staples, along with turkeys for the holidays to help ensure families had enough to eat. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed mentoring scouting youth who were interested in the fire service. In retirement he spent much of his time focused on the Sacramento Regional Fire Museum where he was a founding member.
Forrest had a strong interest in diving and became a master diver. He was fortunate to travel the world on numerous diving adventures. He also loved the Sacramento River Cats. He had season tickets and enjoyed going to the games with his family and friends.
His pride and joy were his grandchildren with whom he shared stories about his lifetime experiences and adventures. On many of their visits, Pop (Forrest) would call them into his office and bestow them with a keepsake, memento or treasure from the Fire Department, Coast Guard, or Boy Scouts and explain the significance of the item to them. His grandchildren were heavily involved in sports and Forrest loved going to their games. It became a weekend ritual.
Forrest enjoyed spending time at the Tahoe House. His aim was to make sure that his grandkids had every game and toy that they desired, from kayaks to basketball hoops and everything in between. He thoroughly loved watching the kids play.
The celebration of Forrest’s life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to your local foodbank.
