It is with great sadness that the Bowen/McNatt families announce the passing of our wife and mother. Frances passed away in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving in Sacramento at 87 years of age. She is survived by her loving husband Benton Bowen Jr. and his children; Robert and Kate Bowen of Davis and daughter Susan and Phil Sweetser of Roseville.
She is survived by her loving daughter Lisa, and son-in-law Hollis McNatt of Granite Bay. Pre-deceased by son, Stephen Lucksinger. Adored grandmother of Jeremy McNatt of Long Beach and Lindsay McNatt of Las Vegas, NV. Additionally Fran was a step grandmother to Stacey Hall, Heather Mauer, Tyler Bowen, Spencer Bowen, Sarah Sweetser and great-grandmother of four. Survived by her sisters Joanne Moxley, Mary Williams and Louise Hamilton.
Born to Strawder and Mollie Hash Delp September 14, 1927. Fran was raised on the family farm in Whiteford, Maryland. One of eleven children. Upon graduation from high school Fran moved to Los Angeles to escape the cold of the east coast. This is where she met her first husband Paul W. Lucksinger (deceased). Married she moved to Rancho Cordova where Paul was employed by Aerojet and where they raised their children. Spending twenty five years in Rancho Cordova she relocated to Valencia, CA marrying Benton Bowen Jr.
Always a worker; Fran was employed many years as a hardware and housewares buyer. She knew more about tools, gadgets and housewares than many men. Upon retirement Ben and Fran returned to Sacramento to be closer to their children.
Fran was the quintessential mom. She was an exceptional homemaker, seamstress, gardener, cook and grandmother. There was nothing she could not do. We had the cleanest house on the block! She loved color and was known to paint anything to make it brighter; from old army boots to the cement patio! She enjoyed the Music Circus, Jazz Festivals, reading a good book, cooking gourmet meals, gardening, and was an avid sun worshipper. She was always changing things around; décor and style. She and Ben were well traveled having had many adventures touring the Delta, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, China and several cruises.
We are thankful for our time spent together and her usual light hearted feistiness right up until the end. She was the best and we loved her very much. Your memory will be our keepsake with which will never part. God has you in his keeping we have you in our hearts. We will miss her until the time comes for us all to be together again. A celebration of life event will be held at a future date.
