Fred was born in Holtenau, Germany and immigrated to Sacramento with his parents and sister in 1953. He was a longtime resident of the River Park community and a lifelong member of the Sacramento Turn Verein. In 1958 Freddie founded the Turn Verein Soccer Club.
Fred worked as a butcher for the Purita Sausage Company for 18 years. In 1969 he and wife Johanna opened Freddie’s Gourmet in West Sacramento. They were in business for 22 years before retiring in 1991.
Freddie was an avid musician, leading the Fred Grosklos Band for over 60 years.
Freddie leaves behind his loving wife, Johanna of over 50 years, loving niece, Denise Drescher and cousins, Ilse Achermann of Sacramento, Ilse Johnson of Florida and Guenther Grosklos of Germany.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sacramento Turn Verein Soccer Club, the Sacramento SPCA or Wildlife Care Association.
