On August, 17, 2013, Gary and his wife Marie celebrated 50 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Marie and daughter Ellyn both of Sacramento, his brother, Drew Donovan (Delila) of San Mateo. He had many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

Gary loved coffee and conversation and was in several coffee groups that met regularly. He was very knowledgeable about plants and was proud of the plants he was able to grow in Sacramento. His favorite place to visit was the Hawaiian Islands. He embraced the culture and embodied the "Aloha" spirit.

Gary was an amazing person, who loved life, his family and his friends. He will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Behl and her staff for the excellent care and support they provided.
