Hermina Katherine Babich

Hermina Katherine Tauscher Babich, known to her family & friends as Nina Babich, died on New Year’s Eve after a long struggle with failing health. She was 85. Born in the small farming town of Maxwell in Colusa County, she later moved to San Francisco, then to Sacramento, where she worked for the Sacramento Union newspaper and met and married her husband, George Babich. A long-time librarian at Sacramento’s McClatchy Library, she was beloved by many patrons. She is survived by her brother Aloisius, her sons, David (Kerry) and Richard (Annalisa), her grandson Justin, her granddaughters Emily and Cameron, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Friday, January 6 at 11 AM at St. Robert Catholic Church, 2243 Irvin Way, Sacramento with interment to follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Services under the direction of Harry A. Nauman & Son:

I was saddened to read of your Mother's passing. She always made me feel like a part of the family when we were growing up in Hollywood Park. Lots of fun times playing baseball in the backyards, Little League, etc.
