Howard Lawrence Yee was born on September 3, 1948, in San Francisco, and passed away quietly in Sacramento on June 14, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Suet Ying Hom Yee and Sz Gow Yee. Howard, the eldest of six children is survived by his siblings– James (Franzbelle) Yee, Tommy (Sharon) Yee, Mary Yee, Parker (Alicia) Yee and Shirley (Kevin) Fujitani; and nephews and nieces–Benjamin Yee, Garrett and Richard Fujitani, Collin (Alexa) Yee, Kristen (Cameron) Clarke, Brandon Yee and great nephew, Kian Yee. He is also survived by Aunt Linda Tom, and cousins Edward (Queenie) Tom and Edwin (Cynthia) Tom.
In the fall of 1956, Howard and his family moved from San Francisco to Sacramento . As a youngster, Howard attended Jedediah Smith Elementary School and Lincoln Junior High School. In February 1967, he graduated from C. K. McClatchy High School. In pursuit of higher education, Howard graduated from Sacramento City College and Sacramento State University. Having a low draft number, Howard enlisted in the US Army in July 1971 and was honorably discharged in February 1973.
Following his tour of duty, he was hired by Sumitomo Bank in Sacramento. He moved to Berkeley when he was transferred to the Oakland branch. It was a long and fruitful career. Howard was a loan officer and an Assistant Vice President when he retired from the parent company California Bank and Trust in 2014. Following his retirement after forty one years of service and living in the Bay area, he returned to his home in Sacramento.
Howard enjoyed running and playing tennis. A great movie buff, he was an avid collector of DVDs and boasts a prized collection of DVDs of various genres.
Friends and family are invited to a committal service with military honors for Howard on Monday, July 11, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620.
