 Raquel, I don’t know if James ever told you but Dan and I dressed up to attend your wedding. We drove around and around but couldn’t find the facility! We missed out on a very special event!
Raquel you and James brought your baby daughter to visit us in Kingsburg. She was just an infant but was crawling all over him. He loving said, “I’m her jungle gym!” and was so gentle, guarding her so she wouldn’t fall. 
My husband dan enjoyed playing basketball with James. James was quite good!
This is an unspeakable loss. I will be hugging you with my prayers today. May God surround you with his strengthening love and may James rest in Jesus’s loving arms. 


Anyone that was fortunate enough to know you will know how you were a special light. You were someone who was easy to talk to, smart, encouraging, funny. Especially funny. When we went to Vegas before Chris & Teresa’s wedding we weren’t supposed to record anything or anyone that weekend. I am glad I broke the rules and got at least short clips of you, of course being funny. I’ll never forget that 8 hour hike you took us on in triple degree weather lol. That will forever be the longest hike of my life, courtesy of you. My last words to you resonates with the time and hurts. “I’ll miss you James, it’s been fun.” I never would’ve imagined that would be the last time I would see or speak to you. This is a hard one. 

I worked with James remotely  -- he lived in California and I live in Minnesota -- although I did have the pleasure of meeting him in person on a business trip I made to the hospital where he worked before he came to Optum. I liked him immediately! How could you not love his smile and his sharp wit! We worked very well together and became good friends. He spoke lovingly of his children and his mom all the time! I am beyond sad that he left us all too soon. May the love and joy he brought to others comfort his family and friends always.

I worked w James for the last 5 years...we sat in the office together...James would constantly be making all of us laugh...him and I could go from teasing each other to having deep conversations....I remember him bringing a crockpot of baked potatoes and all the toppings to one of our many potlucks...it was so random...he was a very good cook actually...he constantly talked about his kids...mom...sister and brother and just family in general...he was a good good dad...and a good good man....I will miss him very very much...

My sweet sugar bear. You were my soulmate, my road dawg, my best friend, my teammate, my absolute everything. We had so much left to do. We were going to make April Fools a reality. We were going to see the world together. We had so many more sunsets to race to, mountains to climb, waterfalls to admire and family adventures to conquer.  Although our time was cut short, I am so grateful for the time we had. Babe, we lived life to the fullest this year and had an absolute blast! We were able to share a love and connection that was so powerful and so real. You showed me what true love and partnership should be.  You were so perfect for me. I will always cherish every single thing about you and you will forever remain in my heart. Until we meet again my king. I love you beyond belief. 

James and I met over 5 years ago as we worked together. He was always had such a positive attitude and a total jokester at the same time. He was great at training new staff and the knowledge he had and shared was amazing. He had this way about him that made everyone feel so comfortable and accepted. When I would have to go to Sacramento for work several times, he would always make time after work to hang out with me each trip. We would go to the arcades and James was sooooo competitive that he had to win everything and if he didn't you were certainly going to have a rematch. I could call or text him anytime and we would chat for a long time I will really miss that. I called him Mushu because he reminded me of the dragon from Mulan as he was so powerful and strong on the outside but a teddy bear underneath with a heart of gold.  I got him a figurine of Mushu and the cricket that was he and I and that was our friendship, he had it displayed on his desk for a long time. James loved his family sooo much and he was such a good dad he was always bragging about his kids. James buddy I will miss you and all our fun times until we meet again Mushu..... 

I heard about your connection to Angie when you first met, and started praying then for the success of your relationship. I’m a big fan of risking heartbreak and falling in love, and you two jumped in with your eyes wide open, and you shared a love story that touched many hearts over an all too short period of time.  I am so sorry for this truly tragic loss for ALL who knew your love. It is clear that your life touched a great many in ways that will continue to ripple throughout the lifetime you should have had. Rest peacefully James Covey, you were well loved, and your light remains behind.
