I am going to miss you like crazy! You became one of my bestfriends and my "brother from another". I can't even express how much I am hurting right now. Rest peacefully my friend. CAJ.. Elvis out!

Jeff (elvis) was an amazing person.  He was funny, motivational, and loving.  He made everyone around him feel accepted.  I will never forget him and may you rest in pease Jeff.

When I picked up The Sacramento Bee the day the funeral notices had Jeffrey's listed, I was surprised and saddened.

We had totally lost contact with all the family when we moved from 60th Street.  Jeffrey and our son, Vincent played together all the time--and the girls and our daughter played together in the neighborhood and took dance lessons together at Barbara Briggs Dance Studio.

I have some funny (now--they weren't back then) memories to share.   Jeffrey and Vincent could be a couple of little skally wags at times.   There was the time when they got into the Slades' mailbox one day and took out a couple of rolls of film that Annete was mailing away--they managed to open the package and unroll all the film, making it exposed and no good.   Then, there was the time they scratched Beulah Moulter's car on the side, to which both sets of parents were outraged that they did such a thing.  The funniest thing to me was when the Zavalas left their doors unlocked and Vincent, Jeffrey and a couple other neighborhood kids went inside and helped themselves to bowls of cereal.  Jean came home and caught them all sitting in her kitchen.

It's so sad to see that Jeffrey has left this earth at such a young age.   I relayed this to Tina and Vincent.   They both felt very sorry too.

May God's peace be with each of you as you travel your road without "Jeffrey Michael" (I can still hear his mother calling him that).   I have read the Legacy posts and see that he'll be missed by many.

Sorry for your loss, Ray, Kelly, Tracy and Bobby.   I remember how proud you all were to have Jeffrey in your lives.

Dear Uncle,

I think it has finally set in with me - you're gone. To write such a sentence leaves my heart heavy. I miss you, Jeff. Lots. I came home last night at 1 AM and still expected you to be there. You'd have water and probably a sandwich, and you'd ask how work was. See, you actually cared about how it went. You'd remind me that I had to give it my all, and once I promised you that I would, you'd invite me to watch shows with you. I really dislike Chelsea Lately - I watched it anyways, and I'd give anything to watch it with you again.
Jeff, you were my uncle, yes, but you became a friend and a mentor, and somewhat, even, of a big brother when you'd joke with all of us and tease me. You called me, "special", and though you said it jokingly, you always followed it with a, "no really - I love you kiddo". I will never forget you gifting me with the chance to learn just how incredibly smart, funny, and talented you were. I was blessed to read your writing and watch you draw. I'll never forget dancing with you, and Jeff, when I play piano, I shall play it for you. You loved listening to me on that broken keyboard. You encouraged me, supported me, mentored me - Jeff, you had done more in this last year for me than I could ever write. Thank you, honestly, for being such a wonderful uncle.

 People here have written their love to you, and I'm sure you've read them. It's time for me to write to you, too. I love and miss you - we all do. I'll miss your Elvis voice in Happy Birthdays, and I'll miss your jokes (yes, even the inappropriate ones!). I'll miss everything about you, but especially your, "I love you kiddo"s that made me feel loved and special. I love you, Jeff. As you would say, "Elvis out!", I will write you "see you soon", because I will. I know I will. Tell grandma I said hi. Try not to get into too much trouble up there, okay?

Jeff,  I will miss you.  My last memory was taking your picture with the blue polka dot wallet.  Also, I had so much fun with you in elementary school and thanks for going to my freshman prom with me.  Great memories.  Your friend Robin

I stare at your picture smiling because of the joy & laughter you brought into my life since we first met back at St. Peter's. Who would have thought my new friendship with your sister Tracy would open the doors to the last 35 years of being part of The Beford family and gaining 2 additional sisters and one more brother!  You're comments of:  "Thank God there's another Mexican in this family to help me out here!", "We Mexicans have to stick togehter" or in your Elvis voice,  "Hey baby...am I still your Sancho?"  How about the many times you would ask if my mom made any sopa or tortillas lately?  And if she hadn't, I would tell her "Mom, Jeff wants some sopa" and she would make it for you in a heartbeat. Then you would be at our door w/ your bowl, that old lard bucket or one of your mom's pots. Then your mom would say, "Jeffrey Michael" you didn't not ask Lupe to cook for you!  35 years of being a part of each other's family, you leave me a lot of good and happy memories.  And with every thought of you my dear brother, my Sancho, I  will ALWAYS have a smile on my face.  I'll see you in heaven my beloved.  :o)

My love and prayers to the Bedford Family and loved ones. I know God has a plan for us all but it hurts that you were taken way to young. Jeff was my 1st love at St Peters... we were such buds and have alot of cool memories that I will never forget and always cherish til the end. It was so nice that we recently reconnected and always a dear and always kept that big heart alive. Your being as a father,brother, uncle,friend was AWESOME! Jeff, it's difficult to accept that you've been taken from us so early in your life. I am going to miss the silly clown whose bright smile & infectious laugh never failed to light up a room. I thank you for your kind heart & ready compassion for others. I miss you friend.

I've struggled with leaving a message here for the last few days, silly me thinking if I left a message it would mean you were really gone.  I don't know how to let you go. I don't know how to stop the pain. You've been by my side my entire life.  My cohort, my partner in crime. I thought we had more time, time to raise our kids together, laugh about the joys of aging together and reminisce about our lost youth together.  You understood me….we understood each other.  You'd drove me crazy like a good brother does, but you also made me laugh with your witty sense of humor and you always made me feel loved.  Like you do with everyone you meet. You're special way of making THEM feel special.  Such a gift.  I don't want to go forward without you.  It doesn't feel right, you're light burned out too soon.  The only comfort I have is knowing you are with your mama, you are safe and you are at peace.  I also like to imagine after finding our family or they finding you ~ your next stop was finding Elvis.  : )    We, the ones you leave behind, will have a great, great void forever.  But we have your legacy, the gift you cherished most on earth.  We get the pleasure of making sure your children know just how amazing you are.  You can be proud, you are an amazing dad.  Now your babies have another special angel to watch over them and keep them safe.  I'm not ready to say goodbye and I don't know that I ever will be.  I think I will leave at “See you Later” as I know it will be you to come and get me when its time to meet again. It's so hard to sit here and look at your picture knowing that I'll never see you again.  Wanna know what i'll always remember?  Me walking into Tracy's house wearing old sweats, feeling sad and funky, no makeup, and you walking up to me saying, "How YOU doin?" in that crazy-suave accent of yours.  Little did you know how much better you made me feel.  Jeff, i've known you for a long time and I've seen you grow up from the bratty kid on 60th Street to a wonderful dad of three awesome children. Not only an awesome dad but uncle and brother as well.  You were always surrounded by your nieces and nephews and those are wonderful memories that will never be forgotten......nor will you.

It is beyond difficult to sit and write a message to someone whom you were able to pick up the phone and talk to (or if the timing was right find in the next room) just a few short days ago...  But here we are, sweet brother, this is what is left for those of us left behind struggling to deal with the pain of your passing.  I cannot count how many times I have heard "life is so short" in the last week.  At first I was irritated by the phrase - how dare someone sum up how we are hurting with such a blase comment....  But during one of my many crying jags last night, I realized how exactly right those people are.  As I sat and thought about you and what you brought to our lives, I realized that life indeed was so short...  There were so many things left to say and do; so many more family gatherings to plan; so many more jokes to tell; so much more fun to be had; so much more for us to accomplish; and we counted on so many more days for us to love and cherish each other's children.  Life was indeed so short for you.  I wanted to be angry at God for again testing my faith and taking another family member so young, but instead; all I can do is thank Him for the precious gift He gave us the day mom and dad brought you home for us.  I am somewhat comforted knowing you are with Mom and that both of your are watching over us all.  Rest in peace, Jeff.  Thank you for being the loving brother, father, uncle, cousin and friend that you were.  I have not found the answer yet as to how I will heal...right now it is difficult to put one foot in front of the other and make it through the day.  I do know you would allow us to be sad but would also want us to celebrate your life and remember the many good times we had during your "so short" time on earth.  I love you, Jeff - my house will be a little too quiet now and some of the laughter will be missing from our family gatherings; but we are Blessed to have had the honor of calling you brother - even for such a short time.

When I think of you, the first thing that pops in my mind is that smile of yours and how much fun you were to be around!  Always smiling and laughing!!What a fun dance partner you were too! I am soooo thankful for the good times we all shared and wish we could have had more.  Life is truly so short and it's very sad your time came so soon. Kelly, Tracy, Barabra and Ray, My condolences to you all.  I can't beleive that Jeff is gone.  I have so many found childhood memories with Jeff and your family.  I know then as i know now that he loved all of you so much.  And although we have all grown up and have had our own families the times i would see Jeff was always the same, that smile of his will always be with me.  He was one of the greatest friends. Jeff, wow!!!! What are we going to do without you? We lost a "love puppy" that we loved and cherished so dearly. There are soooooo many different stories we can share with the world, but not enough space to write it. We ache to hear your voice one more time, hear that Elvis song or sending pictures to a certain someone when he couldnt come out play with us just to tease...Every time we hear The Promise, Forever Young  you will be there with us in thought, or at the microphone if we are karaoke'n like we like doing with you. My precious brother, words cannot begin to express the pain I feel with your passing.  It seems everything I think about brings some memory of you.  You were a joy to our family the minute you were brought home.  I can still hear your laughter and “one-liners” that brought a smile to everyone's faces.  No matter what occurred in our lives there was a bond so strong holding steadfast to our love for each other.  The memories of our childhood and pranks continue to warm my heart. It is so hard imagining you being gone from our lives and my heart is broken.  I know you would not want us to be sad but it is hard when the pain is so great.  I am very thankful for the years you were in our lives; the memories will be cherished forever. I pray for strength to get us through as we struggle with the heartache of losing you.  You will be with Grandma Jumper and our mom now whom I know makes you happy since you missed her so; and holding my son, playing the same fun games you did with all the nephews and nieces, as well as your precious children. I will always remember my precious brother whose true existence revolved around his family and his children, and whose heart was so true.

Our family gatherings will be much quieter and singing happy birthday will probably sound a little bit better without you there to slow it down with your Elvis voice, but your absence will be very obvious. Thank you for taking the time to find my brother and I on Facebook last year. I have such great childhood memories of you my friend. I am so glad I made the trip to Northern California last November to see you and the rest of our buddies from St. Peters. How cool I thought it was that you scheduled the reunion around my trip out there. I can't believe I am going to do this...but next time the Raiders play...I am going to root for them and have a few cocktails in your honor. :) You will be deeply mised my friend. Reading this obituary, a flood of memories came back…we  met at Water World, I was 15 and you about 19, being the only Mexicans in that place, people thought we were related. You called me your baby sis, even though I was taller.  When I was 19, you helped sneak me into Popeye's, even copied the “rush” stamp on my wrist. Once inside you took me under your wing and kept the creepy guys away, like a big brother. Over the years, sharing the news of each child and talking about their education. We could go months without talking but once we talked, it was as if nothing changed. You always asked about my Steven and his sports, etc. and I thank you for caring.
Ducky, I'm so sad to lose you as a friend, but I know you will always be on my side, like a big brother.  I will miss your Elvis impersonations on my voicemail, your texts and Facebook status about your  Raiders, the Oregon Ducks and of course my Niners. Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again.

Baby Brother,

This is not enough space to adequately convey all that you mean to me and the rest of our family. We are still in shock to have lost you so suddenly. However we are truly Blessed and comforted by the many special memories we were able to share with you during your short time on earth. And in your children you left us with three precious gifts that are a beautiful extension of you and we will cherish them forever. Thank God for our faith in helping us deal with another loss of someone we loved so dearly and at such a young age. We know you are at peace and that we will all be reunited one day. There are many things that will remind me of you like hearing an Elvis song, watching a Raider's or  A's game, making Mom's fried chicken for every one, etc. But mainly I will miss your physical presence at our family getherings, your sense of humor, watching you with your children, and how much you loved all of us.
