Age 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in Sacramento, CA. He was born on January 25, 1926 in Modesto, CA. Jerome is survived by his loving children Karen (Irwin) Redlener, Jim (Erin) Blomberg, Tom (Michelle) Blomberg; grandchildren: Michael, Stephanie, David, Ryan, Katie, Norah, Rachel and nine great-grandchildren. Jerry had an entrepreneurial spirit. Over his 60 year career, he started several companies focused on developing products to increase building energy performance. In 1978 he started Sunoptics Prismatic Skylights, advocated for improved energy standards and ultimately fulfilled his goal to sell the world on daylighting. To that end, Sunoptics Skylights now offsets the power of one nuclear power plant. He would say he enjoyed reading, exploring weird ideas or working on some creative design of one thing or another. His motto was to make a difference and make life an adventure.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the Children's Health Fund, an organization started by Jerry's daughter and husband. Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 11:00AM at Harry A. Nauman & Son, 4041 Freeport Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95822.
Arrangements under the direction of Harry A. Nauman & Son, Sacramento, CA.
