Katina Angela Aitkens

Katina Aitkens was born in Sacramento, CA on August 29, 1996, and passed away suddenly on July 6th, 2026. Though her time with us was far too short, she filled the lives of those around her with love, laughter, and joy.

Known for her contagious smile and infectious laughter, Katina had a remarkable ability to brighten every room she entered. Born with Down syndrome, she lived with a joyful spirit that inspired everyone who knew her. She was a proud member of Best Buddies, where she formed lasting friendships and memories. She loved competing in the Special Olympics in swimming, basketball, bowling, and performing in plays with her friends.

Katina was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Magdeline Zogopoulos. She is lovingly remembered by her father, Mike Aitkens and will be deeply missed by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

Family and friends are invited to honor Katina's life at a trisagion service on Thursday, July 16, at 6:30 pm at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home followed by her funeral service on Friday, July 17 at 11 am at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, Elk Grove, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations made to Best Buddies or Special Olympics.
