Lawrence Frank

We extend our deepest condolences to CBH Partners Dalia Frank, Rochelle Frank, and Michael Bobell on the passing of Dalia’s husband and Rochelle’s father, Larry Frank, who died peacefully at home on September 17, 2026, at the age of 89.

Larry was born in Hollywood into a musical family and began studying music at a young age. He became proficient in piano, cello, and glockenspiel — the instrument he proudly played with the Cal Marching Band at the 1959 Rose Bowl. Although he loved performing, composition was his true passion. Beginning at age nine, he studied with the renowned Jewish Italian composer Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco, and over the decades his works were performed throughout Los Angeles and here in Sacramento, earning several national awards. His music drew inspiration from his Jewish heritage and his love of nature.

Larry met Dalia, the love of his life, in 1963, and they married soon after. They made their home in Rancho Palos Verdes, where they raised their two children, and together they traveled widely — with Antarctica remaining the only continent they never visited.

Professionally, Larry was a physicist. He graduated from UC Berkeley and completed graduate studies in acoustics at UCLA. After earning his master’s degree, he worked for major aerospace firms in El Segundo, specializing in thermal engineering. In that role, he made significant contributions to SINDA, the primary thermal engineering software used throughout the aerospace industry at the time.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His surviving family includes his wife, Dalia, children Rochelle (Michael) and Josh, grandchildren, Rebecca (Stephen), Ben (Julia), and great-granddaughter Alison.
