WANNER, Leo A. Is at rest with the Lord, born 3/28/1936 in Richardton, North Dakota, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep while traveling in Mill Hall, PA 5/26/2014. He spent most of his life in Sacramento. Born to Kasper and Katharina Wanner, their last and eleventh child, he is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, and former wife Joann Barker; daughter Diane Arend (Duane), sons Leo (Suwen), Jeffrey (Yvette) and Nicholas (Pam); grandchildren Megan, JP, Mallory, Macee, Sydney, Kylie, Cole, Michael and Lucy. Brother to Anthony and the late Madeline Biegalke, Edward, Joseph, Raphael, Casper, Herman, Daniel, John and Matthew. Survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Leo grew up in a farming family, moving frequently in his youth. Attended Christian Brothers HS in Sacramento, graduating from Bellarmine College Prep. After high school he studied Civil Engineering at Portland and Santa Clara Universities. He served in the US Army and continued in the Army Corp Reserve. After his service Leo took on a handful of occupations, incl. Pacific Telephone, Aerojet and CHP, where he spent most of his career with the Motor Transport Section, retiring as the Operations Business Mgr at the CHP Academy in W. Sacto. with over 33 1/2 yrs of service. A jack of all trades, Leo had a big heart, always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved horseshoes, camping, fishing and traveling cross country in his motor home. Leo was patriarch of the family sausage making tradition with his children, nephews, nieces and firefighter friends. He was a faithful and active member at St. Paul's and Immaculate Conception Catholic churches and the Knights of Columbus. Friends are invited to attend the Rosary on Thursday, June 5 at 6pm and Funeral Mass on Friday June 6 at 10am at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 8720 Florin Rd. 95828, interment at St. Marys Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Christian Brothers High School, 4315 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Sacto, CA 95820.
