On reflecting on my dear Auntie Lois, I am so grateful for her life, so very grateful. In my 20’s  I had the privilege of staying with Auntie and my cousins while a college student, and I can say there is a spiritual heritage and a great wisdom that she nurtured in me and many others with great love and patience. I can also say, the woman, daughter and sister and friend I am today can be directly linked to what aunt nurtured in me. On talking with one of my friends who knew her, they mentioned some vital wisdom nuggets I  had shared  them a while ago that came from Auntie. This further confirmed that there is a great legacy, a heritage that Auntie has left behind for us all and that has spread far and wide. What a wonderful woman who loved her family so much, I know she prayed for all the Kyawe’s and their extended families holding these  families close to her bosom, in her heart, like a mother hen,  naming each family member and praying for their wellbeing and success. What a wonderful woman she was. She was truly her heavenly fathers daughter, always had His heart, full of love and compassion and insight.  I am so grateful to God for having the privilege of being her niece. I am so very grateful for her life. Auntie Lois’s Legacy of great love – demonstrated in compassion, wisdom, unity and family will live on forever. 

On behalf of the siblings, I thank you for being here with Lois's children and us her siblings.  We celebrate the life of a great mother and a great sister.  Let there be no trace of tears in our eyes because Lois would not like to see anyone weep or crestfallen. In her life she had no time for self pity, she gladly embraced life with all its challenges by putting her creator above everything, at the same time she nurtured and brought up wonderful, well educated and God fearing children.

When my niece Lucy skyped and broke the news to me and my wife Rebecca, I said, "Lucy we are not mourning, we are celebrating your mum's life, my sister's life. Let us continue in celebratory mode until we put Lois into her eternal resting place.

Tribute to aunt Lois from children of her eldest sister Edith Kobugasha Makwate.
We the nephews ( Douglas and Myers) and nieces ( Godwill, Lorna, Janice and Mercy) of aunt Lois are saddened by her passing on. We, HOWEVER, celebrate a life lived. Growing up, we were influenced by her character. We knew aunt Lois as a woman who loved God and a committed Christian. Some of big enough before she left uganda knew she was actively engaged in Deliverance Church activities.
Though her passion to shape young people's lives, she co-founded Nakasero City Nursery. Some of our children, her grandchildren were blessed to have good foundation to education and exposure at this nursery. Aunt was generous, as adolescents/youth, we highly treasure the beautiful presents she gave us when joining Secondary schools or university.
Sadly aunt you fell sick suddenly and you had to fight a long battle of ill health. We are certain though, you fulfilled your goal in life as the Bible puts it in 2 Timothy 4:7 *I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.*
May your soul aunt Lois Rest in eternal peace.

My Dear Sister. It's so sad you have left us we are however glad you have gone to meet our Lord and prepare the way for us. I remember how as a young child you used to carry me and protect me from the wind in the coffee plantation which I used to fear so much. How later you took me on as a very good friend and used to protect me and provide for me. So much you did for me!!!!! My family and I will always remember you. Rest in eternal peace my Dearest. Lois Kasikukuru Okumu was my niece I am the youngest sister of her mother late Sarah she was older than me though being her auntie, she loved me so much and respected me she wanted the best for me and always encouraged me to study and have a career which I did and she is the person who brought me to Kampala city for the first time. That was huge I will never forget that. She always called me auntie and people would turn and ask "who is the auntie??" Then she would proudly explain to them.lois was so good and loved her relatives so much. Lois fought a tough race but ended it so peacefully according to her lovely children. May God rest her soul peacefully. Thank you so much Lois's kids for caring for your mum so well may God comfort you and bless you.

Obituary to my young sister Lois Kasikukuru Kyawe OKumu.

My mother Mrs Edith Kobugasha Makwate  ( eldest in the family) requested me to say this about her late loving young sister Mrs Lois Kasikukuru Kyawe Okumu.

'My young sister you grew up loving us your siblings and other people. You grew up loving God.  You had good behaviour and manners. You got educated and became a teacher. You got married to the late Dr OKumu Achendere. You produced lovely children. 

As a teacher you educated many; some of which are  in high leadership positions in Uganda. 

I will greatly miss you. May God grant your soul eternal peace'

We remember your words, the words that became bricks of our lives.
You showed us the way from which we'll not stray. You showed us the Christ the precious treasure without measure. We cherish every day that we lived with you. In my heart you will always remain my inspiration.

Lois meant a lot to my family. She was a very good example of a believer in the power of prayer. She imparted the same attributes into the ones around her. No wonder that when she slipped into comma many years ago, the children refused to just let go but kept on praying that Lois would wake up one day. They kept the faith for more than 15 years. This was not by accident, but what Lois had taught them. Now, that is as deep as faith is going to get - humanly speaking. This is a practical lesson that Lois teaches us even in her absence - never to give up till the very end.
We are thankful for her practical lessons, & we are the richer for her legacy.
I pray that we would all be comforted in the knowledge that Lois has gone to be with the Lord whom she entreated to us; the Lord she loved & served till the very end.

May God receive you in His Heavenly Kingdom.  You have successfully finished the earthy race. You have shown us how yo live and now take a much-deserved rest in the Lord to whom you dedicated your life on earth. Rest in eternal peace. Till we meet again.
