

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorraine Fong Kimura, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who left us unexpectedly on June 29, 2026, at the age of 87.
Lorraine, affectionately known as "Lorrie" to those close to her, was born on August 8, 1938, in Sacramento, California, to parents, Fong Shee K and Yee Wee Ping.
On August 28, 1960, Lorrie married Russell Kimura, in Sacramento. Their union was blessed with two children, Tim and Theresa, who were the pride and joy of her life. Lorrie’s family continued to grow with the addition of her cherished granddaughter, Elle Kimura, and son-in-law Rodney Yip.
Lorrie was predeceased by her parents, Fong Shee and Yee Wee Ping, and sisters, Yvonne Soo and Christine Fong. She is survived by her devoted husband, Russell; son, Tim Kimura; daughter, Theresa Yip (Rodney); granddaughter, Elle Kimura; brothers Rolland (Amy), Tom, Ron (Shawna), and Dennis (Shelley); sisters Lana (El), Carol, Joey (Don), and Debbie; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous friends who became family over the years.
Lorrie graduated from Sacramento High School and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Sacramento City College. With a dedication to public service, Lorrie worked for the State of California in various departments for over three decades, touching numerous lives with her kindness and professionalism.
Lorrie’s mom life was a testament to her passion for community service and her love for golf. She was an active member of the Sacramento Chinese Women’s Golf Club, where she enjoyed many rounds with friends and fellow enthusiasts. Her deep faith was evident in her long-standing membership at the Chinese Community Church, where she touched many young lives by teaching Sunday School and assisting with Vacation Bible School.
A Celebration of Life will be held on what would have been her 88th birthday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chinese Community Church, located at 5600 Gilgunn Way, Sacramento, CA 95822. Family and friends are invited to gather to remember and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on everyone she met. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Chinese Community Church - Senior Meals program, in memory of Lorraine Fong Kimura.
Lorraine's legacy of love, compassion, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
