Passed away peacefully on November 23, 2013 surrounded by the love of his family and Almighty God. He was born June 12, 1954 in Sacramento to Antonio and Margaret Alejandrez. He spent his youth in rural Courtland and Clarksburg. He loved animals and as a young student was active in Future Farmers of America where he served in leadership positions. He raised and showed livestock and won many awards. Later, he served many years as an Animal Control Officer in Yolo County under the Sheriffs Dept. He had a green thumb and one of his sisters referred to him as the family's Master Gardener. This knowledge served him well as a 15-year employee of Home Depot's Garden Dept., which he enjoyed and was in his element. He had a strong work ethic and during his illness his primary question to doctors was always when could he return to work. Manuel touched this world with his clever and quick wit, sweet and big heart, loyalty to family, fierce independence, and rugged strength and determination. Manuel is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Margaret. He is survived by his beloved son, Richard. Manuel is also survived by and will be greatly missed by his 10 siblings, many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 32890 South River Road in Clarksburg with a Rosary on Friday, November 29 at 6:00 p.m. and Funeral Mass, Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at St. Marys Cemetery in Sacramento.
