Margo Linda Shroeger died peacefully in her sleep on October 22, 2024 with her faithful dog by her side. Margo was born in Oakland, California, on May 30, 1941, one of 8 daughters and a son born to Rosa Velazquez. Margo attended cosmetology school and worked at a wonderful salon in the Oakland area where she had a significant following of clients. She especially loved doing the hair of older ladies. Even later in life, she would often go to retirement homes and care centers to give that gift of attention and beauty to the residents there. She was very creative, loved colorful things. She loved her garden, traveling to sunny places and painting.
She and her husband Jack moved from the Bay Area to Sacramento, where Jack managed the shoe department of the Nordstroms department store. Margo worked alongside him stocking shoes. Margo and Jack loved to travel, especially to Hawaii. After Jack passed away, Margo continued to live in their home in Sacrament until the day of her passing. She is survived by sisters Sophie Freeman and Julie Loera and many nieces and nephews.
Margo’s ashes will be scattered on the sea at Santa Cruz, CA. There will be a brief service on her 83rd birthday Friday May 30, 2025 at 10:30 am, 700 Mariner Parkway, Santa Cruz, CA
