Maria Mercedes Castro

Maria was born September 24, 1936 in El Paso, TX and passed away April 15, 2014 in Sacramento, CA. In 1961 Maria married the love of her life, Eulogio Castro and together were devoted parents to their four children. Maria worked for Campbell Soup for 30 years and found pleasure in traveling, shopping and dancing was her favorite. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Taking trips with her family to watch her favorite football team, the Oakland Raiders, was also something she enjoyed doing.

Maria is survived by her husband, Eulogio Castro Sr.; children, Eulogio Castro Jr., Ruben Castro and Moniqua Castro; sisters Emma Lara, Rebecca Lara, Cecilia Lara and Dora Lara; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Remedios Lara; son Jesus Castro and brothers Arturo and Gilbert Lara.

A Rosary will be held Sunday, May 11th at 6pm at McKinley Park Rose Garden and Memorial Mass will take place on Monday, May 12 at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 711 T St. Sacramento, CA. In memory of Maria please plant a Rose or Gardenia Bush, which were her favorite, or please donate to Shriners Hospital for Children.

She will be missed dearly until we meet again.
