

Ann Barber was born M. A. Marden on December 9, 1931 in Sacramento, California. After a bout of health issues, she passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on January 2, 2025 in Elk Grove, California. The night before she enjoyed a bowl of vanilla ice cream and went to bed knowing she was loved. She was 93 years young.
She loved spending time with her family, camping and fishing at faith valley, camping at Dillon beach, thrift shopping, horses, dogs, vanilla ice cream, fireball, singing, telling jokes, being right, having the last word, being feisty, saying Oltipa’s full name, Marty Robbins, and Gregory Peck.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Melvin and Elsie, her husband Bill Barber, her daughters Laura Dawn and Mary Susan, her oldest brother Melvin, her sister Lois, several cousins including Kate, Anna, and Pearl, and extended family and friends.
She leaves behind her brother and best friend Bill, her granddaughter Oltipa, her grandsons Houston (Ciarra), and Greg (Lisa), Great grandchildren: William, Wyatt (Emilee), Alexis, Alyvia, Stella, Kenzie, Megan, James, Moria, two great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Ann is loved by many. She is greatly missed but will live on in our hearts. In leu of flowers please consider donating to an animal shelter in honor of our beloved honey, granny wrinkles and the many dogs she’s loved in her lifetime.
I’d (Oltipa) like to send a special thanks to those who helped to care for granny: Emilee, Wyatt, and William, I couldn’t have done it these last four years without all your help. The countless professionals at Kaiser, the nursing homes, home health care teams, and Kaiser hospice. Additionally, special thanks to those who traveled to visit with granny: Uncle Bill, Marlaine (JR), Jake, Nancy, Megan, and James.
