

Maxine June Monis passed away in the afternoon of February 7, 2022 at the age of 97 years. She was born in North Sacramento, California to Harry William Thomas and Jessie May Louch on June 3, 1924 in the house built by her father and Grandfather Harry Louch. She had worked in the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles until she retired. She enjoyed traveling and her grandchildren. Maxine believed her purpose in life was to be a preacher of appreciation. She preached, “Enjoy each day. You never know if it will be your last.” She is preceded in death by her husband Louis P Monis, her brother Harold F Thomas, sister Doris “Murleen” Schneiter and grandson Davie T Monis. She is survived by her sons Lieutenant Colonel (R) John T Monis, Patrick L Monis and Dean S Moniz; her grandchildren Jennifer G Monis, Jessica M H Monis, Briana M H Monis, Christina G H Monis, Isabel R Moniz, Camille O Moniz, great grandson Jordan Monis, great granddaughters Kyra Monis and Shelby M Monis. She was full of personality, extraordinarily resilient, and lived a full and long life. Her family will miss her dearly. Maxine will be laid to rest next to her husband in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Sacramento. Please honor Maxine by telling someone you appreciate them.
