Born January 29, 1919 in Fort Worth, Texas. Raised in a loving family with 5 brothers and sisters. In 1939, at the age of 20, Ouida got her pilots license. She was the only girl in her class of 10. She loved flying.
Ouida moved to California during WWII to be with her younger sister. She was employed by McDonald Douglas and worked on the assembly line constructing the planes that would be used by our Armed Forces during the war. While working there she met a handsome, young accountant- Bill Mowbray. After just a few months, on September 18, 1942, they were married at the Wee Kirk of the Heather in Forest Lawn.
Ouida and Bill backpacked the Sierras together. They were active members of the Camera Club and traveled all over California with the club.
As devoted followers of Jesus, Ouida and Bill were always active in their local church. They led the adult group Fellowship and Service at Capital City Baptist Church for many years. They left a legacy for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ouida was preceded in death by Bill Mowbray, her husband of 63 years. She is survived by her children Jack Mowbray (spouse Deanne Wolthof) and Terry Mowbray Joyce; her grandchildren Anne Mowbray Beebe (spouse Mike Beebe), Thomas Mowbray (spouse Teresa Mowbray), James Mowbray, Christian Joyce (spouse Sheri Joyce), and Nathan Joyce, and her great-grandchildren Joshua Joyce, Jacob Joyce, Audrey Mowbray, and Matthew Mowbray.
