Chan Po Po had so many great qualities - her generous spirit, unending kindness, and a toughness that helped her conquer any challenge. Her greatest quality to me, was her ability to love. She loved me as if I were her own daughter, and taught me so many life lessons that shaped who I am today.

Chan Po Po instilled in me the true value of love and kindness. She helped me start a life here in America, taught me how to love and support my family, and how to give back to my community. We would often go out on errands, eat out at restaurants, or take day trips to San Francisco. The hours of laughing and wisdom she imparted to me are the memories I will cherish forever. 

Her family was what she cherished above all else. She would talk of how proud she was of all of Karl and Sue's accomplishments and the amazing lives they created for their families. When both of her children married, she loved Kathryn and Hugh as her own and always told me how thankful she was that they joined her family. The grandchildren, Kyle, Alicia, Sara, and Mitchell were her pride and joy, and she always spoke so passionately of the people they have become. I see her values instilled in all of them and she would be so proud to know that they are carrying on her values of kindness  and love as they go out into the world. 

Thank you Chan Po Po for all that you have given me over the years. I believe we will see each other again in the next life. Rest in peace.

Sage enjoyed his reccent visit with his Great Great Aunt Phyllis. They exchanged cars and star-shaped toys. Aunt Phyllis is gentle and caring, and demonstrated strength and maternal instinct when lifting Sage up into her arms on her own upon seeing us. We are grateful that Sage was able to visit her. We have fond memories of this trip. May she live in our hearts forever.

In most Chinese families, aunts and uncles are addressed by their order of birth. Aunt Phyllis, known to us as #3 aunt, was instrumental in getting most of the Ho clan to the US. Her house in Sacramento was always our first home away from home. Uncle Kee and Aunt Phyllis always welcomed us with warmth, generosity, and utmost hospitality. Karl and Sue were always excited to see us. In Sacramento,Sue taught me how to ride a bike, and I learnt to drive and got my first license, from California.

Over the years, as the younger generation pursuing careers, caring for growing families, we did not stay in close touch. Fortunately, the next generation got us back together, with weddings on several occasions. We were reconnected and stayed close.

Aunt Phyllis was blessed with a most devoted son and daughter-in-law, and she expressed her feelings to me multiple times in our private conversations.Karl and Kathy, you should be proud. You have gone beyond your call of duty with the utmost love and devotion. And of course her grandchildren were also her source of joy and comfort.

I believe that Aunt Phyllis is now with Uncle Kee and Sue. Rest in peace.You will be missed.
