Raul G. Romo

Raul was born on May 20, 1947, in the town of Santa Ana de Guadalupe in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, to Bonifacio and Mercedes Romo. At age 7, his family moved to nearby Jalostotitlan where he spent most of his childhood. He had countless fond memories of his adolescent years. At age 17, his family immigrated to Sacramento, CA. In 1974 he married Alicia, the love of his life, and spent the next 49 years supporting each other through life's ups and downs and in raising their family. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and retired with over thirty years of service. He enjoyed traveling with family and exploring new places. He had a multitude of hobbies and interests that came and went over the years including gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, photography, soccer, and painting to name a few. Out of necessity he became versed in auto repair and most aspects of home improvement including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. He had a passion for knowing his roots and spent countless hours tracing his family lineage. A devout Catholic, Raul was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. He began and ended each day in fellowship with our Lord Jesus, always striving to do his will.

Raul is survived by his wife, Alicia (married 49 years); sons, Michael (Gina), Peter (Rebecca), Jose (Cinthia); grandchildren, Micaela, Andre, Alexis; siblings, David (Christina), Antonio (Maria Elena), Guadalupe (Guadalupe+), Jose Luis (Lorraine), Arturo (Louisa), Maria (Arturo), and Ruben (Angelica) along with so many loving family members and friends. He will be greatly missed. Raul is reunited with his parents and siblings (Salvador, Jose Asuncion, Alicia, Francisco, and Jacinta).

The Rosary will take place at 6 p.m. on Wed April 19th at Sacred Heart Church (1040 39th St, Sacramento, CA). Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thurs April 20th at Sacred Heart Church followed by the burial at Saint Mary's Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Croatian-American Culture Center (3730 Auburn Blvd, Sacramento, CA).
