Bob was born on September 24, 1950 to Chester and Lorene Bittner Bartch in Sacramento. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War, later earning his pilot’s license and AA in Electronics from American River College. He worked at the Sacramento Army Depot, and later McClellan Air Force Base, for many years as a civilian contractor and spent time in Germany and South Korea as part of his professional duties.
After retirement from civilian service, Bob began working full-time doing what he loved best: Flying. He became a flight instructor and later included aerial photography and ash dispersal as part of his own aviation business. Right up until his death, he could be found at McClellan Airport almost daily, either working on his airplane or flying it.
Bob will be remembered for his love of aviation, animals, tinkering, all things do-it-yourself, and his family. He relished being able to help his loved ones with any repair, installation or replacement. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, sons and grandchildren whenever possible. Over the years, Bob took many pets into his home and heart, and treated them as members of the family.
Bob is survived by his wife Rita Almazan Bartch of Sacramento; son Michael Mann and daughter-in-law Heather Mann of Washington state; stepson James Kelly and daughter-in-law Chardonnay Kelly of Sacramento; grandchildren Tyler Mann, Leia Kelly and Willow Kelly; brother Jack Bartch of San Francisco; sister Susan Bartch of Parma, Ohio; and niece Sarah Jackson of San Jose.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. Bob's life will be celebrated at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd. in Sacramento.
