Robert Daly, a friend and loved one to so many, passed peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 4th. While Bob's passing is a heavy shock to his family and friends, we find peace knowing that he lived a full and vibrant life until the very end.
He is lovingly remembered by his former wife Peggy Daly and their four children, Bob Daly, Carol Daly Weeber (Mark), Tom Daly (Amy), Brian Daly, their grandchildren Julia Sweeney (Graeme Higgins), Kathleen Sweeney Hulme (Sawyer), Tucker Daly, Nathan Daly, Megan Daly, and Evan Daly, their great granddaughter Saoirse Higgins and son-in-law Michael Sweeney. He is also remembered by his siblings Bill Daly, Sue Stuart (Scott), Mary Harris (Sandy), Kathy Daly Fericano (Paul), and Ronnie McKee (Bjorn Persson), his brother-in-law Patrick Maloney, his sister-in-law Adele Lunardi, and his large community of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Imelda Daly, his father Willam Daly, and his sister-in-law Helen Daly.
Robert Daly was born to William and Imelda Daly on November 20th, 1941 in San Francisco, California. He grew up as the second child in a family filled with love and laughter and walked through life with the strong companionship of his older brother Bill Daly and his younger sisters Sue, Mary, and Kathy.
As a young boy and teenager, Bobby attended St. Bruno's Elementary School and then Serra Catholic High School. While in high school, he won the Golden Gloves bantamweight title as a sophomore and earned the name "Little Tiger" in the boxing ring.
After his schooling, Bob served his country in the U.S. Air Force and then began a career at Eureka Federal Savings and Loan. He also served in the early 1970s as the President of the American Savings and Loan Institute. He was recognized throughout his professional life for his diligence and attention to detail.
In early adulthood he met and married the mother of his four children, Peggy Daly. They bought their first home in Pacifica where they welcomed to the world their eldest son Bob Daly, their only daughter Carol Daly, and their twin sons Tom and Brian Daly.
The Daly Family also had a close-knit extended family and Bob continued the legacy of his parents with a love of family and making intentional time for large family gatherings. That has continued to grow as he has had his grandchildren and his great granddaughter.
As life continued, Bob joined his brother Bill in business, Daly of California, shortly thereafter joined by their younger sister Kathy. They embodied the Daly charisma and built a strong manufacturer's representative company that provided Bob with a career for the rest of his life. Notably, he was still representing lines and working large trade conferences as recently as this year.
Bob loved life and he lived it fully. He spent his final years in Sun City Roseville where he could be found playing golf, billiards, tennis, or bocce ball. He was a regular parishioner of St. Clare's Catholic Church and could be found in the pews every Sunday at 7:30am. He maintained a beautiful garden and curated a collection of treasures throughout his home and yard.
Bob was an incredible story teller and could make anyone laugh and feel at ease. One of his favorite jokes had to do with baseball in heaven. While we know he didn't play baseball, we're sure he's already joined a team and, as his joke went, he is pitching on Friday.
Bob Daly will forever be remembered for the fun and comfort that he brought to every person he met and he will be dearly missed.
Services in his honor will be at St. Clare Catholic Church in Roseville (1950 Junction Blvd, Roseville, California 95747).
