

Robert Earl Redmond passed away March 22, 2016 after a long term illness at age 86. He resided in Rancho Cordova, California for 40 years. He was born in Shamokin, PA on December 5, 1929. Surviving members of the family include his loving wife Regina of 61 years, son Michael Robert, daughter-in-law Kelly Christine, granddaughter Olivia Rose. Also surviving are two sisters Linda Shankweiler of Shamokin, PA and Phylis Weitzel of Hyattsville, MD.
Robert spent 20 years in the United States Army Corps of Engineers and served in Korean War and Vietnam War. After retirement, he spent 18 years as Stock Supervisor for Weinstocks. Robert was a dedicated volunteer in the community, including Cordova Senior Center, driving for Meals on Wheels and spent many years volunteering at the VA Medical Center.
His favorite pastime was playing golf at the Cordova Golf Course. He belonged to the 45er Golf Club for many years. His family will always remember his sense of humor and his positive attitude.
The doctors and nurses at Sutter General Hospital ICU that cared for Robert, gave outstanding care and service. This does not go unnoticed by the family.
Internment will be at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California on March 28, 2016 at 2:00.
