

Robert (Bob) Shigeyuki Watanabe of Sacramento, California, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born on September 14, 1933, in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, the youngest of 6 children. His sister, Vivian Ichiki of Maui, age 99, survives him. After graduating from the University of Hawaii, Bob was recruited by the California Department of Transportation, where he worked for over 40 years as a Bridge Engineer, designing bridges throughout California. He also served as a Captain in the Army Reserves for 10 years. Bob loved golfing, fishing, music, In-n-Out hamburgers, and spending time in Hawaii. He was an active member of the Masonic, Shriners, and Scottish Rite organizations where he served in positions including: Master of the Lodge, Assistant Grand Lecturer, and 33rd Degree Inspector General Honorary. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Sharon. He is survived by children Steven (Alycia) Watanabe and Liane (Patrick) Rhodes, and 6 grandchildren - Steven and Brandon Morgan, and Matthew (Bridget), Sarah, Kylie, and Paige Watanabe. Bob will aways be remembered as a kind and loving father, grandfather, and uncle.
No formal services will be held, but the family encourages everyone to enjoy your cherished memories of Bob.
