Ruth Skeen Going

Ruth Skeen Going passed away on March 23, 2014 in Sacramento, CA. Private Service were conducted by Harry A. Nauman & Son Funeral Home. She was preceded in death by parents and 6 brothers and sister. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Going of Sacramento. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephew and cousins. Mrs. Going was born at Cleveland, VA on December 24, 1907 where she received her early education before moving to Sacramento, CA. She taught 14 years in Virginia. Then she taught 23 years in Sacramento before retiring as a reading specialist in 1973. She received her college education at William and Mary University at Williamsburg, Virginia and California State Universities at San Jose and Sacramento achieving B.A. and M.A degrees. For 2 years during World War II she worked as a supervisor for the Department of Defense (War Department) in Washington, D. C. She was awarded a life membership in California Parents and Teachers Association and California Retired Teachers Association. Memorial services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on April 13, 2014 at 2:00pm. Remembrances may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church 1300 N. Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.
