

Samuel Frank of Sacramento died on February 6, 2018 at the age of 95, following a stroke and several years with Alzheimer's. Sam was born on July 6, 1922 in Sacramento to parents John and Goldie Frank. He graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School and Sacramento Junior College. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the Army Air Corps as a B17 radio operator and was a former POW in Germany in Luft Stalag IV and he endured the 500 mile death march across Germany. He was a member of the Sacramento Junior College national championship Track and Field teams of 1941 and 1942. Sam was preceded in death by his son, James of Sacramento; and Sam's sisters, Sophie Ostrom, Tillie Kirby, Deana Ajay and Anna Pierce; and his nephew, Scott Yost. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura of 67 years; his son, John, of Gold River; and Sam's sister, Rose Yost, of Orangevale. Friends are welcome to attend a graveside service at the Home of Peace Cemetery at 6200 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento at 11:00 AM, Thursday, Feb 15.
