
Stanley passed away on July 6, 2016, at age 75. Stan was born in Marysville, CA on June 13, 1941. Stan is survived by his wife Christine of Gold River, son, Stephen Brown and wife Kristine of Roseville, grandchildren Maddie, Ethan, Abby, and Alec Brown, son Matthew Brown and wife Lyndsey of Rocklin, grandson Macray Kacalek, brother Randall Brown and wife Donna, of Silverton, OR, nephew Peter Brown and wife Alison of Sacramento, nephew Nicolas Mendoza and niece Lucy Jane Brown, brother-in-law John Griesbach and wife Anne Juurma of Salem, OR, and nephew Ian Cipperly, of Davis, and niece Zoe Van Gundy and husband Peter of San Luis Obispo, and children Cleo, Violet, and Dagny Van Gundy. Stan graduated from Sacramento State in 1965 with a B.A. in Mathematics where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. Upon graduation he enlisted and went to Officers Training School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force. Stan was an F-4 Phantom Fighter Pilot for 14 years and served two combat tours in Viet Nam where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. In 1977, Stan earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Univ. of Utah while on active duty with the USAF. Stan was a CPA for 19 years first working self employed, then as the Financial Services Coordinator for the Catholic School Dept., Diocese of Sacramento and then as the Fiscal Officer for the Inter-Tribal Council of California from which he retired in 2009. Stan was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 5322, member of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus, member of the St. John Vianney Parish Finance Council, St. John Vianney Mr. and Mrs. Club, Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge #2484, and Sons in Retirement (SIR) River City Branch #117. The family would like to thank Stan's wonderful doctors at Kaiser Permanente: his Personal Physician, Dr. Roger Mar-Tang, his Neurologist, Dr. Saketu Khandhar, and his Neurosurgeon, Dr. Conrad Pappas who implanted the Deep Brain Stimulator which improved Stan's quality of life. In Lieu of flowers, donations will be appreciated to the Parkinson Association of Northern California at www.parkinsonsacramento.org. Memorial Mass to be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 10497 Coloma Road, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670, on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 11:00am with reception to follow in the church hall. Burial will be at Sutter Cemetery District, 7200 Butte Avenue, Sutter, CA 95982 on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 11:00am.
