February 8, 1947 - March 9, 2006
Suzanne H. Paoli passed away in Sacramento, California on March 9, 2026 from Alzheimer's disease. She was 79 years old.
She was born on February 8, 1947 in Berkeley, California to Roy and Charlotte Hedman, but lived most of her life in Sacramento, California. She graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School in 1964. She attended California State University, Sacramento where she received a BA in Sociology in 1969, a Standard Teaching Credential in 1970, a Master of Arts in Elementary Education in 1977 and a Reading Specialist Credential in 1987. She also received an Administrative Services Credential from the University of LaVerne in 1998. She was a dedicated teacher and reading specialist in the North Sacramento School District for 33 years, and as an educator she developed many dear friendships that she kept throughout her life.
Suzanne loved reading and in retirement donated her time to a local branch of the Sacramento City Library. She often told her husband she should have been a librarian. She loved the theater attending many local productions in Sacramento, and when she made her first trip to Ashland, Oregon in the early 70's, it became a yearly event with her husband and friends. Suzanne found great happiness in her mountain home in Truckee and loved sharing it with her friends. She also loved dogs. Her own dogs were her children, and because of this love she was a passionate supporter of dog rescues.
Suzanne traveled throughout her life beginning with her honeymoon when she and her husband backpacked through Europe during the summer of 1973. That trip started her love of travel. During her life she saw much of the United States and Europe. However, a safari to Kenya and Tanzania was her favorite because she loved seeing the animals in their natural environment. Suzanne also loved to travel with her special group of girlfriends that she had from her career. They loved each other's company and saw many exciting places throughout the United States.
Suzanne was known for her dedication, kindness, patience and her love for her family and friends. She leaves behind her husband, Lee, of 53 years who loved her deeply. She was also loved by her family and friends and will be missed by them.
A celebration of life will be held at Harry A. Nauman & Son on April 10, 2026 at 11:30am. Check their website for specific information.
