Thomas Richard Partington

PARTINGTON, Sr., THOMAS R. Thomas Richard Partington, Sr. was born May 15, 1930 in Sacramento and passed away on January 3, 2019. He was the son of Charles Westly and Eva May Partington, brother to Phyllis Coleman and Edna Samsel, all deceased. He was married to and survived by Louise, the love of his life, for 70 years. They had 3 children; Thomas, Jr. (Peggy), Michelle Cameron (Colin), Tracy Sweeney (Randall), and 6 grandchildren; Sarah Baker (Aaron), Jack Partington, Ian and Fiona Cameron, Dylan Harden and Melissa Sweeney. Thomas grew up in East Sacramento. He graduated from Sacramento High School (Class of 1948). He was a journeyman gunsmith at Christy Gun Works. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War (1950-1954) on the USS Fort Marion, seeing action in the Inchon and Pusan campaigns. In 1954, after his tour of duty, Thomas joined the Sacramento City Fire Department as a Firefighter. He advanced through the ranks of Engineer and Captain. He retired from the Fire Department in October of 1986, receiving a Citation from the City of Sacramento for his 32 years of service. Louise and the Partington family wish to thank Absolute Compassion Hospice Care for their assistance and aid these last 6 months. Thomas was truly one-of-a-kind and is deeply missed. Services will be held on January 14, 2019 at 11am at Nicoletti, Culjis, and Herberger Funeral Home at 5401 Folsom Boulevard. His burial will occur at Sacramento Valley national Cemetery in Dixon, California.
