His career continued when he began working as a technical engineer for the State Department of Water Resources. There he concentrated on multiple aspects of building the California State Aqueduct System until his retirement in 1990.
He was known to all as fun-loving and Uncle Bill to many. He enjoyed games of all sorts and playing tricks on people when he could get away with it. And, he absolutely adored being a grandpa. Bill was an avid sportsperson. He played winter league baseball as a young man and moved onto perfecting skills in scuba diving, archery, golf and cycling, culminating in his beloved bocce.
